RNIB Reeding Services offers a large library of audio books. Some of these books are commercial audio books for which the publisher has granted free access to visually impaired people. Other RNIB audio books are recordings produced under licence by RNIB which are available only to visually impaired people. Books are available immediately; you never need to wait for a book to be returned by another reader and, better still, you may keep the book for as long as you wish. RNIB audiobooks can now be downloaded and played on iPhones and iPads using the Dolphin EasyReader app. You will need to register for the service first at the RNIB Reeding Services web page. The service is free of charge to visually impaired people in the U.K.
When your application is complete you will be able to search for and download audio books using the Dolphin EasyReader app. Here are RNIB's instructions on using Dolphin EasyReader.
The registration process, and subsequent use of Dolphin EasyReader is all compatible with VoiceOver or low vision settings.
The RNIB Library contains books in several formats. Only those items in DAISY format are audiobooks.
If you have any problems setting up or using this service then please contact RNIB Reading Services.
